This painting recalls the artist’s sojourns in the house of a close friend during his years at the dacha in Talka, a village on the outskirts of Minsk. The scent of grass-stained sheets drying in the river wind brings back those days of exuberant gatherings, the bounty of gardens, river swims, and the untroubled play of youth. The house, shared with his uncle and grandparents, became a locus of memory and belonging. This intimate study distills the essence of that vanished epoch, preserving its atmosphere of innocence and joy.
